Your Web Site Visitor Value Enter numbers only in the Input Data boxes. Do not enter commas, currency or percent signs. For countries using different currencies, simply ignore the $ signs. NOTES: 1. Average Weekly Units Sold: Each week, on average, how many product or service units do you sell from your Web site? 2. Average Weekly Sales: Each week, on average, what is your total gross sales from your Web site? 3. Average Weekly Unique Visitors: Each week, on average, how many Unique Visitors do you get to your Web site? Don't confuse Unique Visitors with 'Hits,' or 'Page Views.' 'Hits' is a confusing term which refers to how many files must be loaded from your server when someone clicks on a page on your site. In addition to the page code being loaded, each graphic image is another 'hit' to your server. A page with 5 graphic images, and 2 cgi scripts, would represent 8 Hits -- one for the page code file, 5 for the image files and 2 for the cgi script files. People are always misusing this term to represent -- or misrepresent -- the number of people who are visiting their Web sites. When you hear someone say that they are getting hundreds or thousands of 'Hits' to their site there's a good chance that they may be mistaking server hits for code and graphic images, etc. for individual visitors. 'Page Views' represents how many times your pages have been viewed. One person could view one page 50 times by coming back to it again and again as they tour your Web site. If your visitor reloads his/her browser, it may get counted as an addition 'Page View.' A 'Unique Visitor' represents each person who visits your Web site. If 100 different people visit your site on any given day, they are counted as 100 'Unique Visitors.' When it comes to marketing your business, 'Hits' and 'Page Views' are irrelevant. Only the number of Unique Visitors provides you with a meaningful measurement in determining the value of a visitor.
