If At First They Don't Respond, Means They'll Never Respond Big, money-losing myth! Just because someone doesn't respond to your latest marketing offer, doesn't mean that they will never respond to your offers. But this is the way many business owners perceive a lack of response, and so they never contact many of their prospects or customers again. People have many reasons why they don't respond to a particular offer. Here are just a few possibilities. 1) They didn't see your offer to begin with. 2) They were on vacation. 3) They have a huge pile of mail and other reading matter that they haven't completed. 4) They don't know you or your company well enough yet. 5) They don't trust you or your company yet. 6) They have questions and need more information. 7) They don't have any interest in the particular offer you made to them at this time. 8) Their budget won't allow them to respond at this time. 9) They had to respond to a family emergency. 10) They didn't understand your offer. 11) They have more pressing concerns right now. 12) They wanted to respond, but they forgot. 13) This particular marketing offer may have been weak. 14) Your marketing vehicle may have been poorly designed. 15) Perhaps they really aren't interested in anything you have to offer. 16) etc., etc., etc. There really are an endless array of reasons why people don't respond to a particular marketing offer. Only one of those is because they are not interested in 'anything' you have to offer. If you don't follow up numerous times with your prospects and customers with a variety of offers, you will be missing out on the bulk of your potential sales. Give your prospects the benefit of the doubt. Don't count them out, until you've given them every opportunity to become your customer. Often, just by following up by phone, you can get many of the non-responders to respond. You may even hear something like . . . 'I'm so glad you called.
