Q. Do I need to create a marketing plan? A. Marketing expert, Joe Gracia, responds: Absolutely. But you don't need to create anything fancy, or permanent. Most people have a big misconception about marketing plans. They think that you can create a complete marketing plan first, and then just implement it. In reality, your marketing plan will evolve over time. Marketing is about setting goals and then testing and adjusting your marketing systems to achieve those goals. That means that you start with general sales goals, and then create a rough outline describing your overall strategy and your proposed marketing systems to achieve those goals. As you test these marketing systems and review your results, you will constantly adjust your goals, and your systems. You'll be increasing some of your marketing systems, deleting others and testing new ones. This process never stops. Your marketing plan will evolve as your marketing systems produce higher and higher levels of sales and profits.
