Q. How can I create a basic Web site to sell my product? I have one product that I will market so I am in need of a basic Web site. I was told that there are companies that actually sell generic Web sites (shell) and all that is required is the time to format and place information on the site. Can you please offer some references.

Marketing expert, Joe Gracia, responds: Yes, there are off-the-shelf Web site creation software packages that you can find at any computer software store, plus there are a number of services on the Web that will allow you to create a simple Web site. One of the most popular services is called BigStep.com From what we've seen it looks like a very professional company, and they have simplified the process of building a Web site so that anyone can do it with little or no experience. We took a different route and learned how to write our own html code and create our own Web sites. This gives us total control of the development of our site. If you wish to take that route there are some excellent tutorials on the Web that can help you learn html. Just go to your favorite search engine and search for 'html tutorials'. IT TAKES MORE THAN JUST CREATING A WEB SITE TO SUCCEED Keep in mind, that creating a Web site with pictures and information about your product or service, and a way for your customers to order your product or service, is just one element in an effective strategy. There is a lot more to know about attracting high numbers of prospects and converting a percentage of those prospects into customers.
