Q. What is the best way to grow my 'particular' business? A. Marketing expert, Joe Gracia, responds: Over the years we have received literally thousands of marketing questions, but this is the one question we get more than any other. What is the best way for me to market my . . . -- insurance business? -- Mary Kay Cosmetics business? -- real estate business? -- construction business? -- Web design business? -- veterinarian business? -- retail business? -- non-profit business? -- pet sitting business? -- theater business? -- restaurant business? -- horse boarding business? -- gift baskets business? -- Tupperware business? -- wedding planning business? -- etc., etc., etc. It doesn't matter what kind of business you own -- the answer is always the same. Here's our answer. It doesn't matter what kind of business you are trying to grow, the way to market it successfully is always the same: 1) Create a product or service that an extremely large number of people already 'want' to buy. 2) Make sure you have a reliable way to reach those people. 3) Make sure your product or service is profitably priced. 4) Make sure your chosen product or service delivers exactly what your customers expect it to -- or even a little more than expected. 5) Make sure your customers are very satisfied and happy with your product or service. Strive for 'raving fans' of your product or service. 6) Attract unlimited numbers of people who have a genuine interest in the benefits that your product or service provides. These are called Prospects. Do this at the lowest cost possible. 7) Convert a percentage of those Prospects into First-Time Customers by making them special offers that they can't refuse. 8) Convert those First-Time Customers into loyal, Lifetime customers by offering repeat sales, or additional back-end products or services. 9) Organize and systemize all the steps so they become a smooth and consistent process. There isn't a quick and easy answer to marketing a business effectively. You must accomplish the above steps -- and, of course, that takes work and commitment. It also takes a lot more detail than we could print here. In addition to the 'What' to do listed above, you also need the 'How' to do it. You need to know the exact steps to be taken to accomplish each of the above goals. You can't guess at 'How' to market your business. Honestly, the easiest way to grow your business is to learn from someone who has already done it. Instead of blindly trying 'this and that' with little or no results.
