Q. Is giving away free information really a good marketing idea? You often mention that it's a good idea to offer free information to people to help you get the sale. The problem I see is that there are many people who are only looking for the freebies, and have no intention of buying! A. Marketing expert, Joe Gracia, responds: In one way or another we are all freebie seekers! If you were thinking about buying a new camera, wouldn't you seek information about what kind of cameras are available, what their features are and how much they cost? And wouldn't you want to get that information for free. Imagine going into a camera store and discovering that they wanted to charge you before they would give you any information about their cameras. They wouldn't be in business for long. Does this mean that every prospect who asks for free information is going to buy. No, but marketing is a numbers game. And the more information you provide to your prospects to help them make their buying decision, the higher your numbers will be.
